I’ve been really saddened this month to hear of 2 Christan leaders in the global Christian family, exposed for sexual failure and prophetic deception. The prophetic deception was by way a long history of data mining for the purposes of being actively deceptive and engaging in false prophetic words, and sexual failure through an extended lifestyle of abuse of power and infidelity… so, so sad…
Matthew 6:23 says,“And if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how deep that darkness is!”
This afternoon we are commencing a 6 week series on “Walking in the Light” and I invite you come along an explore this important concept as we live in a world that can be rife with deception and confusion.
How does darkness present itself as light? By way of deception… Paul describes Satan himself masquerading as an angel of light in 2 Corinthians 11:14.
And how does one start to walk in deception? Via a slippery slope would be the most frequent way, I would think - Psalm 1: 1 gives a pretty good indication how one can go from walking, to standing to sitting with the wicked… we usually don’t just trip into sin.
We are in a season of God refining and purifying His Church. And if we love Jesus, then we are included in this refining. He truly wants us to walk in the light, and this means being refined and purified…
When these exposures of sin happen in the body of Christ, take it as an opportunity to reflect on your own life before God and see what refining He might need to do in you… it’s a challenge, but a worthwhile one.
How can you do this? Take a position of humility; Value the Bible as God’s word to you so that all other “words” get measured by it; Stay close to God and discern the seasons and times through God’s eyes; Stay connected in Godly community – we’re better together; Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith, not man and their words or ways… don’t shift your eyes of Jesus.
