The Value of Living in Love

What does loving well, look like for you? At River of Life, we hold the cultural value of

love close to our hearts as we walk together as a church family.

God’s love isn’t co-dependent, or selfish. It isn’t obsessive or people-pleasing.

The love that we value at River is two-fold:

  1. It’s the selfless, serving love that God himself demonstrates for us. Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

How amazing is the self-giving love of God for us. It helps us properly understand

how to give of ourselves in love for others. He willingly laid his life down. How can

you willingly lay your life down for people that God highlights to you, with the right

motive?

  1. It is a love that does not turn a blind eye… We value living in a way that demonstrates God’s kindness, which is restrained and patient (Romans 2:4). It’s God’s kindness that convicts us of our sin and leads us to turn to Him.

Our purpose at River is to be a gateway to breakthrough, healing and Kingdom life,

and I believe genuine self-giving love, and godly kindness is the door through which

breakthrough, healing and kingdom life occurs.

How are you loving your neighbour today? Is your motive in alignment with God’s

heart?

God’s love is a fruit of the Spirit at work in you (Galatians 5: 22 – 25)… let His Spirit

manifest HIS love through you today, and more and more as you keep in step with

the Spirit, paying attention to how you live… from your spirit, not from your flesh.
