At River of Life, one of our cultural values is worship. We choose to spend extended
time worshipping the Lord when we are together, because He’s worth it!
When you’re at home in your daily life, when was the last time you had an I-see-you
moment with Jesus? Is it a more than a once-daily occurrence for you? Do you want
it to be?
For the last 8 years or so, I have developed seasons of practicing the presence of
God via a looping app that buzzes every 10 min to remind me to pause and worship
the Lord no matter what I’m doing or where I’m at in my day. If you’re interested,
check out this 20 min interview with Carol Arnott that explains this spiritual discipline
well. It’s a great video.
At first, it’s just an act of obedience, choosing to have your day interrupted regularly,
to stop and worship and praise the Lord for 30 sec or so, every 10 min. But then
something beautiful happens. A desire develops. After that, something even more
amazing takes place. God’s presence physically manifests in the midst of
worshipping and adoring him.
This is my act of love for Him, so why did he physically meet me with different
occurrences such as visions, electricity running through my body, doors of
opportunity opening, miraculous immediate answers to prayer, blockades being
removed in ministry, healings taking place, intercessory victory, shifts in
environments, when I worshiped Him this way?
I went to Scripture and found Psalm 22:3, “God inhabits the praises of his people.”
Of course! And then I found Jeremiah 32:39, “I will give them one heart and one
purpose: to worship me forever, for their own good and for the good of all their
descendants. And I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never
stop doing good for them.”
Ahhh!! What an amazing, beautiful covenant He has made with us – That there is a
printable verse for my wall, I reckon.
I’ve heard it quoted that “If we want to walk in the presence of the Lord, then we
need to be practicing the presence of the Lord.”
Do you want to walk in the presence of the Lord? Practice worshipping Him
throughout your day, in some deliberate way.
Who would have thought that worshipping God was reciprocal? The Bible says so.
He has covenanted with us. Dive in! It might take a while, but persist with
obedience. You won’t regret it!
